Tbh when you see 168 people on here and three posts a day it makes you wonder..It's like 2008 all over.
These cars are too valuable to use hence minimal posts

Use mine everyday, end of the day it's just an escort. Get out there and use it.

I agree...about how quiet the forum is these days, but people have busy lives so it doesn't bother me too much. It can be frustrating if you have a technical question though.

The cars might be valuable but shouldn't stop you using them...does them no good to be laid up all the while. I try and use mine as often as I can, admittedly that's not as much as I'd like with house, family, kids etc.

I wouldn't not drive the car because of it's perceived value though. Might as well sell and look at the money in the bank if it's value means more than driving it.

The forum is a good resource for sure.

It has been a slow road, and some of the problem was that human nature doesn't like change so the new look plus the initial issues caused a drop of in numbers. Forums aren't as busy now due to the likes of Instagram, twitter etc - I don't think they'll die out as they are good for support, but people tend to head straight to social media for those quick look at what i've been doing type topics.

Nice post and a very well deserved thanks for all of the team who conducted the upgrade recently.

I've been terrible at getting on here recently. Work has been extremely busy for me this year which has put stop to a lot of things, including free time to work on the car. Hoping things will quieten down over the next months so I can enjoy the car more.

how true and good on you, the only trouble is i dont really enjoy driving anymore, with all the speed cameras, speed humps ,street furniture and traffic calming., now all the filth want to do is nick you as its so easy, when these cars first came out we had none of all this crap, its all about revenue making and very little about saftey unfortunately.

The forum being quiet is just the nature of it being for a singular limited particular model of car. There were only 7500 of them made and a fraction of that number left on the road. I have absolutely no idea how many but after 25 years there's only got to be say 2500 of those left. Let's say 2000 of the owners speak English so that would be the maximum active owners. Of those quite a few are older guys, late 50s early 60s who have owned them from back in the day or can now afford them as they wanted them years ago. Guys in that age group are less likely to be active forum members (trying not to stereo type but forums tend to be the slightly younger guys). So let's say about 1000 possible owners who fit the profile to come on here, some may not know about it, some may use other forums I.e. Passion ford or RSOC forums. So maybe 5/600 possible forums users then as a forum it's never going to have a massive daily turnover which will only ever reduce with time as there's not exactly breaking news every week. Given all I've just said, the guys who do come on here, the depth of knowledge and the willingness to share/help are fantastic and help keep the users and post numbers high. This is a cracking forum and I'm really glad of the resource and the odd little contribution I make. Well done to all involved.

P.s. Please note all numbers are purely fictional and guesstimated after a few beers since today is my last day at work for a while!

Too Fast - you could set up statistics after this exact number of beers - our main site shows close numbers to yours - "Members: 5,626 Active Members: 391".

Maybe it is me and my strange attitude to all this social media which I don't follow at all, so because of that I am glad that our Forum is quiet. Or I got old maybe.
I miss the garage section and our cars showing at the top of the page, but still admire this place and people who are helping each other.
                        for the best Forum.

Thanks for the post Markie, it's been a long slog by everyone involved and they all deserve a big up.

It's taken a while to get used to the new format, it's not as easy for us oldies to get to grips with change but I'm getting there, I too prefered the old site but it was outdated, outmoded and there was no back up for it so it was only a matter of time before it collapsed entirely which is why we took the tough decision of changing before it was too late, just look at what's happened to the S1 site, we didn't want that to happen here.

But as always, it's you guys who keep it going and from all of us we thank you for your continued support.
