  • ST mot

Hi all after a bit of advice, I've had my car s yr now & its due a mot, it's a 96 st car with a full d-cat system...
the usual place I take them, tried it on his exhaust computer & he said it would fail due to having no cat!! & he wouldn't risk his license cheeting it. (Which I understand) would it be easier to have a removable d-cat made with flanges by a exhaust company save any probs in the future? & would the cat loose Mutch power if left on?? Instead of on & off for mot.
    Cheers.

if you cant find a friendly mot guy then you dont really have any other options,i used to have a blue flame exhaust as they did a bolt in cat like your on about and when it was fitted i couldnt tell any difference at all perfomance wise, the modern sport cats are very good

Must be some other mot stations around you that could mot it.

There's loads around by me, but I'm guessing if I just walk in & ask that question (can u turn a blind eye to my non cat exhaust) they are all going to say the same? Which I understand with not every using them before.

Behind the back box? Does anyone have a pic? As I've got no room behind my back box, it's the back box then the tale piece that goes through the bumper. If that makes sense....

Just ring around a few mot centres and tell them your donkey is out of a 91 Cozzeh pre cat so you want a no cat mot .. ez when ya know how

Bit of a headache this, loads of places I knew of would turn a blind eye for a "mate", not any more though, they won't risk it (My dad has a test station and he won't fudge mine, they cannot risk the loss of the test cert due to the work it brings in which I understand). As cozzfather says you could try the earlier engine route - I doub't they'll check engine numbers and the like.
I have the mongoose sports cat on mine, i've mentioned on here a couple of times that it is loosing its effectiveness year on year and is now a right pain in the ass to get through. If it isn't super hot it fails on emissions, last year it just scraped through after several attempts - i'm presuming i'll have to look at a replacement this year to get it through.
