  • Standard air box with K&N power limit

I personally hate the cone type filter, if I ditch the one I have what would be the max power limit for that set up? I used to have a standard air box with a K&N in the rally car but it was heavily modded underneath to allow more air in but the car ran a 38mm restrictor so power was no more than 340/360 bhp.
ATM my car has a SCS engine bottom end and standar top end with a 300 ish bhp tune but there are plans for the future, so a standard air box would be my choice.

i cant understand why people put a cone filter under the bonnet sucking in all the hot air when the original box sucks in the cool air from the front or am i missing something here?

I think its flow, at some point they don't flow enough air for the required power output.. Thats what I want to know as I don't like the cone filter and there's no point having it if I don't need it.

Do you intend to mod the bottom of the box to allow more air In?

No Frank, I was just going to run a bigger supply ducting and not the oe snorkel (which I don't have anyway)

Thanks. Large cool air ducting is a great idea.

. Do you know anyone with one to sell?

Mike rainbird used to do a 3inch intake pipe lid that would be a good idea to try to get one.
