I am looking online and wanted to find out what are some of the most common problems you have with your Escort. We have a 1995 Escort Cosworth and want to know where some of the more common places are for tune ups and what to be aware of as we dive into this car. Any and all information would be very helpful.

Hey. The waterpipes from the Sunroofe should be relocated, prevent from runst inse the skirts. Engine sensors are old, The cable inside the head( Ignition ) and maybe also fuel injector schould be replaces, Fuelpump. Rust over your fueltank and arear around. Headgasked, Idle valve, Ignition sensor for EDIS are Old ( you can use a sensor from the gearbox from a fieste much cheaper and you mus replace the cable too the edis a good shielded one, you lost 50% of your imobiler system but the you dont have 3 degrees junp in the ignition field. When you wanne drive it in stock condition ist easy too make thinks work.When you wanne have power ist a nightmare.

jsa I am trying to learn about the most common problems Cosworth owners come across. What are some of the more common problems that you find in these cars? For example, the head gasket continues to pop up in the most common problem threads.

I was curious what other issues you all have found in owning the Escort.

Fusebox, wireloom(enginebay), rust in sills floor+++ cluster,

Overall allot comes from wrong pepole messing more up then they fix.

I've had to;
repair a front diff due to planetary gear wear
replace the a/c condenser
replace the cabin vent fan
added a parrallel conductor to the fuse box
replaced clutch cable
normal service items like oil, plugs, filters
fuel pump seems noisier recently, so I need to investigate.

OEM head gaskets have a limit when increasing boost/power limits. Sierra engines with 205 block have the most HG issues. EsCos have 200 block and less issues. As I understand it ST has a better gasket than BT from the factory.

It really depends on what you modify. Add more HP and just like any other car, the ancilliaries need upgrading as well.

The main problem is they are not used on a daily basis and really like with any car that is where your problems are.
