Car to tow a track car ??

Hi all ,

I'm looking to get a bigger car from my fiesta and looking for a car to tow a trailer and car to the odd trackday and Santa pod

Prob spend £2000 - £4000 .
I have looked on eBay and autotrader at recovery trucks but don't want to drive that every day .
What does everyone use ?
Not looking for a discovery or transit though as not much call for it

Would a mondeo tdci or ST be up to it or a BMW estate .

Any suggestions ?

I used to have a VX Omega. 3.0 Auto. Great car, engine and box. Self levelling suspension and German built but without the German Badge premium.

You can pick up a late spec low mileage saloon or estate for near the bottom of your budget.

I tow my race car round the country with my Mondeo ST TDCI no problem
It can legally tow 1800kg a fiesta track car on a normal car trailer will be will under that.

But before this I had a 300tdi disco. £1500.

£4000 will get you a td5

I have a mondeo St tdci estate which is fantastic for towing, and still gets 38 mpg when towing the trailer

great power and torque , and 6 speed box, great as an every day car too, I love my mondeo to bits and dare i say it, best car ive owned to date, great all rounder

My fiesta ST doesn't do 38mpg so the mondeo sounds a great upgrade

Is there a difference with any of the tdci ?
ST tdci is 2.2 and tdci is 2.0 ?
What's the tax rate on the ST ?

I had an 06 st tdci to tow my focus track car, did the job perfect but I had problem after problem with it.

This was my old 4L one. 28mpg with the car and trailer.
Awesome tow machine and legal to do it as well.
You can pick them up for really good money now.
