  • Wheel studs for comp TH's

    Guys,

My car has 18" comt th's, when fitted the wheel studs are a fair length, think these were changed to grpa type wheel previously fitted and conversion nuts, question is will standard length wheel studs be ok for the th's with correct nuts, and what is standard length studs? best place to get them

    Cheers

Do you mean that the TH's have the Group A inserts fitted and if standard nuts will fit? If so, then they won't. You'll need the Group type nuts that are sold on ebay with a longer shank on them that fit into the inserts more snuggly. If that's not what you mean and that the TH's have the holes machined to accept larger studs, then I doubt that would be safe on standard nuts also.

No, my car ran grpa comps prior to the th's, therefore longer studs were fitted, with the th's on (not grpa) the studs stick out a fair bit and open nuts are required, so I presume standard studs will be long enough with closed nuts

There's a lot of confusion of what Group A studs really are. They're bigger than standard Ford studs, but a lot of people refer to longer studs using the pic below as Group A stud and nuts.

Use these and be done with it

The THs he has are not grpA as I read it

Me personally would leave the long studs in and get a nice set of nuts eg the ultralite made ones or there are very nice steel ones in various colours available all open ended and look better than standard nuts IMO.
