I use need2insure, put it on a laid up policy then step it up to a full policy when needed with agreed value.

I tend to go between need 2 insure and boncaster. Note that all insurance will go up over the next few months due to the drop in sterling value and also the bad weather claims that come after the winter, I read the other day that many people can expect a 20% increase in home/contents/car insurance.

Cheers guys. I use Paul, but thb I'm getting a bit fed up of paying near £250 a year ( with 9 years NCD) for the Cosworth, when I only pay £630 a year for a GT Speed and a Discovery combined . It seems a bit steep considering I've done a grand total of 60 miles this year and I think its part of the "Cosworth Tax". I can insure a 1962 Splitscreen Camper worth 40k for less than the Escort.
Might have to shop around or just take it off road for good.

I'm on a Classic car policy with Admiral. £45k agreed value. £105 a year.

That is very cheap Biz, 45k of cover for just over 100 quid is a bargain. Just got to watch the agreed value terms on some of the mainstream providers, heard some horror stories.

I've never got mine below £300 on a classic policy, 38 years old, me and the wife as drivers, 9 years NCB and clean licence for 17 years, not a bad postcode either. I can never figure out how they work it all out to be honest

I think the reason Paul's quite seems a bit steep to me is that his policy allows certain modification? I dont suppose there are many Cosworths out there unmodded so perhaps his quote isnt quite so bad? I might down grade to off road/laid up

its all well and good getting a cheap insurance but i think more important as to how quick they pay out when it goes tits up and if they pay out!

I'm envious. Full NCB, unmodified car, garaged, CCTV, monitored alarm, £35k agreed value and capped at 1,000 miles per annum. £440!

That is Equity Red Star through Adrian Flux.

As said already insurance is on the up, I've got several mates high up in the insurance world and apparently many insurance companies are making a loss as the markets that they are investing in are performing poorly. Hence at least 1 insurance company is going bust each month now.

Not sure what that have been investing in, should have bought old Fords!

Agreed, I know Paul has a great rep for that. I just wish he could tailor a more competitive policy as most of us just need fully comp insurance incase it gets stole, to allow us to clean up the brakes once a month and get the car to the Garage for an MOT.

Why not get the laid up policy to start with then?
It's about £180 I think with agreed value, then when you decide to mot and use the car just ring up and swap to full policy and pay the balance for the remaining months

                          Hi Dan,
Who sets the base line for the agreed value. I'm not sure what its worth these days. Going by recent sales I recon it 25-30k OTA But who decides?

Either Rsoc valuation or Paul does an indemnity policy where by you state the value you want it insured for and they cover it
