  • fitting a 7.5inch diff on the back of a escos

is it possible to swap the diffs over and drive shafts to 2wd? and still use the same beam why do peope change the rear beam to 2wd?

how much weaker is the 7'' diff comapred to the 2wd diff mines almost 2wd so i need to be doing something with the back end...

    cheers

you can fit the 7.5 to the 7 inch beam, you just have to cut and reweld one of the diff mounting tabs on the beam, everything else will fit easy.

no there thicker, easier to fit your brakes onto a complete 2wd rear axle

is there not enouth clearence for the bigger shafts then? i take it the 4x4 shafts are weak? would they take 450bhp? they do look skinny!!!

in what way do the 2wd shafts not fit the standard beam?

if you get the complete 2wd shaft inc stub axle that goes through hub then they will fit, and as above just re weld one of the top diff mount brackets on the beam

but a 4wd one should handle that power if your still 4wd, if your 2wd then get the 7.5 diff in there

the 2wd drive shafts will be ok for length when used with the 7.5" diff, you just need to get the 2wd stub axles, the ones with the 6 bolts. (the normal escos ones have 8 bolts)

The 2wd axles fit the hubs, they did on my escos.

                Basically......

4x4 and 2wd rear arms are identical, so are the hubs, so the 2wd shafts will fit fine into the std 4x4 hubs and arms.

As said the bolt pattern on the 4x4 shafts is different to the 2wd ones. plus the diff is physically wider so the lengths are different also.

So to put it simply just use 2wd shafts and diff, relocate the mounting ear and its job done
