i used to get a mag plus discounts for things and the use of the club for insurance valuations and you can have a sig whereas non members can't on the forums hahah.
if like me your no longer a member you can't tag along to a show in yer and put money into the club by way of admission etc so thats a few things of the top of me head.

Although i'm still a member(been for years),if you don't go to any shows, or wan't some so called benifits from insurers/traders or a chance to grab some NOS or cars for sale that the staff have had first dibbs at yonks before the members have etc, then i wouldn't bother mate.
Cue the"its not what the club gives you,its what you give/input into the club"brigade
Well i pay a monthly fee to my gym,not cheap, alot alike this membership compared to other car clubs...but my gym doesn't charge me to go to one of thier yearly social events...and its quite open to let non members in,for a small fee....nor does it ask me to"input" anything apart from the fee i pay, judging by some members in the RSOC,i'd be cleaning out the toilets at my gym and that would be deemed as totally satisfactory"input" for the club

Also non members not being allowed on club stands, little things like that which grate with me...plus motorsport shells etc etc....loads of "i'm up me arse" pompus crap...and the mags arn't that great, the recent one was delayed and wasn't worth the wait IMO but then you will get the old reply"the mag is only as good as the input they recieve"....i also pay a monthly subscription to EVO and yes, maybe its slightly dearer, but they don't often email me for "input"...

This club has been stuck in the dark ages with its attitude and forsight for donkeys years, especially staff side, they really think as a "business"(which they are) they don't need to do much or adapt and just let the"customers" take up the slack(and the costs) and blame them(the customers) for any short falls... I'm suprised some of these dinasours even know how to use email/texts..ooppps,i think some don't

And this from a genuine longtime RS loving member that has had pretty all marks of the RS brands from mk1 rs escort upwards...i love the brand,i just think the club is run by clueless c**ts and its been like that for along time

anyway,to answer your original question, yes mate,£35 is a steal,go for it

I think that if you join for 3 years then you get a discounted rate.

One thing I don't want to see happening again in non-RS cars on local group stands.

Mixed feelings for me really, dad and laterally msyelf have been members for 20 years now...
The mag is not what it was but I suppose the net has stolen a lot of thunder, funnily enough I was just reading a 97 mag on my lunch and it was a very different beast.

My only gripe and it's one that dad had aswell was there was a certain clique about the way it's run, although we were members etc because we didn't show the various cars we had it always made us feel slightly second best at NAT day(intentional on the RSOC part definitely not but it felt that way)
I'm somewhat pleased though they seem recently to have recalled that the R in RS stands for Rallye...

Probably worth the £35 for the year as that's what half a tank of fuel now, so not a great cost..

Cocker if i can't get me rarer than rare into national day and pay my hard earned brass to support the club.... Fookers without rs's should be barred from turning up at a show hoping to get in with it unless theres special parking inside the event yet not with the rs's if yer catch me drift

ps i know Robski makes some valid points but theres some top banannas in the rsoc,i tell people to contact the registrar when they are after a certain car they are desperate for as he knows loads of people with them and if one of them mentions about selling up it makes sense imo

it is a twats trick cherry picking the treasure from under members noses if certain people on the staff do do that though but i think them days are long gone because of the internet as people load up ads themselves and its first come first served .

i could tell the story of the widow selling her old mans lotus cortina mk1 that some get in the lc owners club never put in the mag until he got the reddies first to capture the very very very rare crayford convertible lotus cortina mk1 from under the noses of everyone else but i won't

Agree totally. I pay my membership etc and show ticket money to be on a local group stand with other RS cars, not a stand with vectras and skodas an vws on, which has happened in the past. As you say, if its a non rs car it should be on a visiting car club stand.

Well now you mention it<<<<<<<<< the fookin membership number saga needs a kick up the gorbals if yer ask me... I mean you join a club and get a number and leave for what ever reason and decide to join again>>> how and why is it a good idea to give the old member whose details the club still posess a new number thus confusing people

i don't care what people say....i have respect for members who joined before me and have a interest in the ford rs brand and i couldn't give 2 hoots what some newby git thinks about rs's and the rs owners club its the cars and punters that matter and i say this !!!!!!!!

BACK TO BASICS........... Ford RS's only no ifs or buts. Old Members welcomed back like a long lost cat,and tbh get rid of so many rooms and bunch loads up like cosworths stick them all together. Focus rs's stick them all together get me drift

oh and regards our escort cozzeh registrar he's a belter, theres people who have been well and truly stuck got help off him and advice. I have had advice myself and always appreciate stuff like that as this is what its all about
