  • So what do I do with this Yellow Esc-Cos then???

(for those not in the know...) Roughly 6-7 months ago a Burnt out Escort Cosworth came my way from overseas. Originally I wasnt too interested in the car because of the colour as it was going to be a track / rally car. However, done some digging with the help of Mark and the Ford heritage centre and have now confirmed that this car is a genuine Zinc Yellow Escort RS Cosworth, Big Turbo Lux model. Here are some pics:

(for those in the know, ive held back on talking about this until I could get the car into a properly secured workshop which happened over the weekend).

And the proof of the pudding..........

So now im torn as to what to do with this car. My options are:

    1. Rebuild to full concourse spec
    2. Rebuild to clean but useable fast road spec
    3. Rebuild to a rally car spec
    4. Strip it for bits and take a bid on a genuine Zinc shell

    What would you guys do?

Option 2, clean, usable fast road spec.

Or you could go for the rat look, dont need to change much then

RHD going by the wipers and bulkhead I'd say.

Option 1 or 2 ! 1 meaning that it will be very special esp when mint concourse !

I'd say across between 1 and 2, do a road spec to a very nice BUT usable standard.

                    What size are the wheels?

Option 2 is sort of growing as my preferred option, but the amounts of money required to get just the panels again is mind boggling. I need Tailgate with spoilers, front and rear bumpers, side skirts, both front wings, grille, bonnet, vents etc etc etc etc

The interior isnt too bad. Its pretty dirty but should be re-useable for the most part. Engine for me isnt a problem neither is wiring or hosing, but in any case im not going to get much change out of 10K am i?

I suppose what I really want is another smashed up Esco Cos to come in to copart or similar, then strip it and swap all the bits over.

To answer some questions... Its RHD with a KM speedo, the wheels are 17" and are Compomotive. From the small amount of History Ive been able to gather so far (again thanks to Mark for this), the car was sold in the UK originally, then exported to Ireland where it dropped off the radar (so to speak). Then reappeared in Hong Kong which Is where I imported the car back from. Its got some Graham Goode stickers on it from back in the day, wonder if they will have any details?

Rare colour that Zinc Yellow. Not really my taste but it does have something special. There are only 2 ever sold here in The Netherlands.

Originally I wasnt a fan either. But then I got thinking all OEM bodywork and panels, amber indicators and side repeaters with OE tail lights, RS500 grilles and a set of Anthracite 18" montes and I soon changed my mind lol
