  • Magnesium wheel refurb

Can magnesium wheels be refurbed by any wheel refurber or are they a specialist job. I know magnesium wheels have a reputation for cracking so is it obvious to see or do they x-ray them or something to tell. If they are crack free will they then only crack with a big pot hole or will they just crack with normal use and time. Do they powder coat them or spray them with a gun. Im wanting them diamond white. Can anyone recomend a good place to have them done and whats the going rate for an 18" wheel. Cheers.

          Deffo a specialist job!

Don't use Ian Jemison the guys a bodger and fucked set of my mags.

Pristine in Milton Keynes did a good job after him.

Truth be told that I they are proper well used GRP-A wheels over 10 years old I wouldn't even bother once cracked they will crack over and over and over

i wouldnt touch mags with a bargepole unless they are brand new, magnesium degrades over time which is why they have a lifespan,i never found anyone who can repair them properly either

These are the sexiest wheel for a Cozzeh. Just hope i don't have the problems that others have had with mags. Its a big gamble but one worth taking i think. Shame it would cost so much to have these remade as i think now that new engels are hard to find they could be a winner.

Can you remember what they roughly cost. Just hope mine haven't been knocked about too much.

Do you know what the life span is for a mag wheel as I can't find anything about it. When I have them refurbed I think they xray them to look for cracks so with a bit of luck all will be safe n sound.

I had a set of mag monte rims done before they did reproductions by pristine in Milton Keynes. They did a stunning job of them. Pristine are the only wheel refurbers I'd use

Cheers max. These sound like the place to send them then. Can you remember what they cost and was it a straight refurb or did they require any extra work. Did you have any problems with them cracking once refurbed like other people have and how many miles did you use them for.

There was no repairs but it was circa £500 and a good few years ago.

I sold them on without fitting them to daveesccos,, don't think he had any probs...
