  • Battery going flat ( Now sorted)

Left the Escos off the battery maintainer for about 18 days, locked and alarm on and now not enough power to start the car. How long does your battery last in same conditions. Battery is only 18 months old.

Check fur parasitic drain, easy to measure with a voltmeter when unplugging certain items of their power source.

              nah, it shouldn't do that.

If it helps Frank i've only ever got 2 weeks on either of the cosworths that i've owned, the standard ford alarm and immobiliser draws current even when not activated.

thanks Simon, that sounds about right then, It was just over 2 weeks. Bloody immobiliser has gone tits up. not the first time either so I'm in the process of ditching it. Will fit a more modern one.

I measured the current drain and was getting 400ma to start with then dropping to 240ma after 5 minutes . That's still about 2.5 W and 6 a/h per day . So over 2 weeks thats a lot of juice. ie 84 a/h and a flat battery. Now immobilisers been replaced with new the a/h is now 50ma. That's a bit more like it. Got rid of the the factory alarm also. Now fitted with the one device that does all 3.
