Hi all, I've got a question about gearboxes, I bought a good second hand bigtooth gearbox of a Cutch on hear, had bara check it over, everything was perfect
ive Just spent the afternoon putting it in & the prop is hitting the output shaft??? On closer inspection the output shaft on the big tooth gearbox is longer than the standard output shaft on the standard gearbox??? It did originally have drop gears in it, which I had bara swap back to standard.
has anybody ever come across this?? & is there a easier way to sort the problem or is it gearbox back out again

The drop gears have no bearing on output shaft. They are simply different size sprockets and a different length chain.

The early saph have a "uniqe" donut and front piece if propshaft. Later and escos have another, and out going flange in box is diffrent. What you need would be a escos front piece of shaft and escos donut.

Got youso the gearbox won't need to come bk out if I can get the front prop section & donut from a escos.

The longer spline in middle cover is escos and the shorter from a Asaph, you can't get the saph rubber anymore

As has been said you have an early 4x4 output shaft and a later one, you need to fit a late 4x4, green top saphs and escorts doughnut and front prop it doesn't need to be an escort front prop a green top saph will do.
alternatively you can take the transfer box rear housing cover off and swap it over, the chain doesn't need to come off to do it, then just swap it over job jobbed 10 minute job with the gearbox out of the car.
this iss assuming the centre diff is a standard one, i tried to do this to my quaife dog box but the centre diff is an ATB and the output shaft is not standard!
