Time to sell imo, this spike in car prices ain’t going to last, the bubble will burst like it did in the 80s.
Just like housing market was in the 2000s was booming, then pop.

The amount of people you speak to that say I’ve bought it as an investment for later life. Which is fair enough, the key is when do you cash it in.

Thing is in the 80s-early 90s no-one could insure them, which is why they took a hit. Now they're classics (and a lot of the people looking to buy are too lol) I can't see the prices coming down. But then I would say that.

Totally agree Karl, time to cash in.
look at Mk1 mk2 escort rally cars, they are dropping, £80 100k a couple of years ago.
pick one up for 45-60k now and with choice.

Though some cars will always hold the money, ex works ex press car etc will always be worth top dollar, theyll become museum pieces.
and they are only worth what someone is prepared to pay,

i think most of us on here have had our escorts long enough and would make a nice profit on the car if we decided to sell it however, as it does not owe us stupid money which they are now, we are happy to sit on the car and be content owning it and driving it when we all get chances to.

IF I did ever sell mine, I doubt that I would want to pay the big money to replace it as well, so better off keeping it imo.

been a good few on here that have sold their cars and now cannot get another one due to prices going too high and people not selling nice cars and they are sorry for letting them go as at the time they think they can let go of cosworth ownership and a while later they need another car.

                  Dave.

Mines going nowhere, got it a few years ago off the original owner with 18700 miles on it, thought i paid a lot of money for it at the time but looking at prices know it was very cheap and it's still my dream car

Never thought about car as an investment. Oh how incompetent businessman I am.
I'd sell the Escort, but not before I really have to.

It's not what it is it's the fact you can move it on and buy another classic in the making ,like a 550 marenello or a gallardo or maybach for old Cozzeh moola.

If you dont want to sell then great another rondel post or something will be along shortly but I'm talking baby holding if you'd rather cash in than see it depreciated if you stand to make a vast profit

I guess its all about what each of us whant for me, i have payed all my cars, so they dont cost much to keep (well exept all extra cash i have goes into upgrades/restos ), so i dont care if they only standing there, i appriciate just to know i have them, and IT would be just the same if i bought another classics i whanted, IT would be in a corner and not used.... Its only one time i considered to sell a couple of my "nothing special" cossies, and that was, when was offered a grpa 3door for a okay price... But i desided to wait, and see if i can get togheter cash later on just to cash one out...

I just know for sure i would regret letting any off them go, so for me the extra cash just wouldnt be Worth IT...

It took me 17 years to get my EsCos and was always my (realistic) dream car. I finally got it 7 years ago and it still puts a smile on my face. The fact that it may have gone up in value is irrelevant (but nice to know).
I might be tempted for a change one day, but not just yet!

I sold mine back in 2003 and regretted it straight away but I needed the money so needs must I suppose..., fortunately enough I found the car through the forum and bought it back, unless my circumstances change then I would never sell it, I don't car if they drop in price TBH as I just love the car.
