I've had mine (solid black BT) since new, in 1994. It's still only done 18000-odd miles. No intention to sell. However, the problem is, I'm getting more and more afraid to drive the thing! What if some berk runs into me? And it's low mileage, which seems to account for humungous wads of cash, so I worry about putting miles on it. These silly values are taking the fun out of owning the cars.

Like most on here, the Escort was a school boys dream for me (okay so I was out of school by the time it hit), and I've always wanted one. Are there better cars out there? Absolutely, but none of them does it for me the way this car did and still does, and after owning one for several years now I can say I have enjoyed the car very much, however with the current spike in value I can't help paying attention to prices. My dilemma is if I was to sell what do I replace it with? The extra cash would be great but besides a Porsche 911T there isn't anything reasonably priced ($50-60K USD) that I'm seriously interested as a project car. .

I've got my dream car so mines not going anywhere anytime soon unless someone shows up with ridiculous $

Same with me, wanted one as soon as I saw one, had a mk1 rs2000 then a S1 turbo so always liked the RS thing but can't see me selling as what else would you get ? The fact it goes well and all it's noises and the looks is also a reason I couldn't sell, be different if it was 220 bhp though yea the bubble might pop in a recession like houses but it will come back bigger and stronger just like property, supply is the other issue as not many pop up for sale, had mine 17 yrs now

If money was needed for something important selling could be an option but where in the world would you get as nice a wee car as an Escort Cosworth. You could buy a new motor that would be faster handle extremely well quiet and reliable but in 10 years it will more than likely be dated looking cost an absolute bomb to fix(as they age things will go wrong). The auld Escort still looks amazing 25 years on. If properly cared for and proper bits put on them or if left as Ford intended they are not too bad in the reliability side. Magnetti Marelli don't like damp in the air I think though. For me I just love em' to look at.

More and more finance companies are agreeing finance against classics ,they don’t see the bubble bursting yet, you won’t get 100% finance but pretty close to it.
the market is only going up for the Escort/Sierra cosworth.

On the new Wheeler Dealers in the Escort Cosworth episode Mike Brewer recons they will be worth 100K in 10 years time! I think our insurance premiums might go up if this happens

I never thought I'd even contemplate selling mine as it's always been my childhood dream to own one. Although, with values rocketing these past few years, I'd be lying if I said I haven't considered selling mine. The only car I'd sell it for is a 996 or 997 GT3. I never thought I'd be able to own one but with the value my EsCos is, a GT3 is becoming a realistic prospect. Decisions decisions.....
