  • bit more work done on the dash today. The centre console seems to over hang on the passenger footwell slightly, is this normal?

Yes the only real fixing points at present are the sides where it screws to the dash. Need to get the other bits and as OOO says align it up.

            thanks gents

            • There is a piece of foam edging that sits on the passenger side of the tunnel that keeps the carpet out slightly, it sits under the carpet, I hope that makes some sense
By the way good to know a sapphire carpet can fit

                That's great thank you.

yes I was impressed with the sapphire carpet fitting. Just a little trimming required at the back but easy enough.

                • Have not put anything on here for ages so thought I'd Bob a quick update on.

I have now sourced myself a full engine and gearbox, coming out of a low miles sapphire 4x4 imported from France. It's totally standard and apparently never had a rebuild. Good starting point for me I hope.

I've been busy sourcing a few of the niggly little items still remaining for the interior. Not really much left now both inside and out.

she is on wheels, albeit steel ones but it's progress....

next step is to get it on a trailer and down to its new home for the next 12 months approx, my friends workshop where she will be getting built

                  • Good news! Must be good to have it down on 4 wheels.
If it’s a Saph engine will it need a t34 etc or you going different route

Amazing, it's actually looking like it might be a car again soon!

So if I manage to get the rest of the car ready I will run the current bog standard set up next summer which is what I'm aiming for. Then the plan is to whip it back out for winter and rebuild. I was down at sabre on Friday mapping a mk1 focus and they had a ST escort in so we quickly got onto my cossie. He reckons that although the tried and tested greens and t34 and similar route is fine, there are set ups on the market now which will deliver the power but without the lag which has got me thinking, shall i do something not yet tried..?
