I understand where you are coming from. I'm also 52, and bought my Escort 16 years ago. But for the past 5/7 years it's been sitting in the garage undergoing a "restoration". I'm kind of losing interest, and a C63 has just come up for sale at my local Merc garage. I really like those cars, and was wondering, that I should be driving something more akin to my age. But then I think about the grin factor of the Cossie, and that makes me not want to get rid of it.

Spot on that. I bought mine 15 years ago, now 45. Cant see me limping out it with walking stick.. unless its carbon fibre one to match splitter and hockey sticks.

You're never too old chaps, there's a guy in our group bought his brand new back in the day and he's been retired a few years now. He still uses it for shows with us and it's just gone 30k on the clock

I bought mine nearly 2 yrs ago as a 40th bday prezzi to my self, as always wanted 1 since the 1st day I saw them on a ford stand back in the early 90's.... Trouble is im not even 40 till next year
I've owned my saph for 17 yrs next yr, I luv driving them so from my point of view as long as you get that buzz when your out in it, your never to OLD.

I was 10 when first time saw it in Ford showroom Ornig in Leibnitz in Austria. I remember Saph too, I was 8 and got a green brochure.

My dad and I bought ours together when I was 17. I was insured to drive any car "not owned by me" on my other car back then and since my dads name is on the V5 then I could, and did drive it from aged 17. We still have it to this day and I'm 34. Dad bought his 1st escort Cosworth when he was 36 and got it new and his 2nd at 43 . He's 61 now and still drives ours, when it does actually venture out of the garage. I did have an RS2000 at 18 and a Mk1 focus RS at 21 so I did alright when I was young. I had a really good job straight out of school at 17 and spent everything I earned on cars. Unfortunately a mortgage and family have curtailed my spending, I couldn't afford it now.

Bought it as a 40th birthday present to myself.
Don't know what to buy when I am 50 next year
