Nope. I thought about an M4 as a replacement for my E92 M3, until I drove one. Didn't like it in comparison at all!

Problem with the e46 and e90 though is just too slow, plus massive backwards step in tech.

E92 was far from slow, and a conventionally aspirated V8 at over 8000rpm feels and sounds an awful lot nicer than a turboed 6 cylinder.

On the road they were never really that much quicker than the E46, felt they were lacking in torque.
I had an e46 M and found it abit boring.
Also had a V10 M5 and found that much better speed wise.
Either way the normally aspirated cars do sound great but they will be left with ease by the new turbo cars

Not all about absolute performance though, Dan, it's about driving enjoyment. And there was (for me at least) far, far more enjoyment in the M3 than in the M4 (which I also think is a properly ugly beast too). Which is why when the M3 went, I didn't replace it with an M4. *IF* I were going to have another Beemer (and they are seriously overpriced), I'd go for an M240i. But I think my BMW days are over.....

I think it’s the shove in the back that’s lacking, it was nice to have a linear power delivery and that amazing noise but for me personally I love the torque of a turbo car.
For me I would have the 4 door m3 over the m4

M2, the best m car last 20 years, imo

Poor interior let’s it down though.
Think the new one is out soon with carbon roof and detuned m4 engine so should be much better!

yes I love the old old school v8 sound but you really have to thrash everywhere to get best out the car as low torq"" I did come close to buying a m2 and the sound is super with the m-performance exhaurst " but the new m3/m4 comp pack kills the m2 on performance and more so after 60 mph

this is the m4 I got at minute
