Usually rad sits at back, intercooler on front and middle hole to mount to chassis

Thanks for the replies! I ordered brackets from Dave at XYZ. Will post how it goes. I got the Airtec 60mm from MSD.

I bolted it up that way to start with but yes couldn’t get the fan clearance. The bracket is the same thickness all the way along and basically the front part of the bracket is just not used so doesn’t really need to be there with my configuration. As it’s the same thickness all the way across I don’t see how it causes any excess strain with no extra weight that would be on the bracket if fitted up in the first picture. It’s has been fitted up for nearly two years now all good and solid still.

that looks like it will be putting a lot of strain on the end of the bracket, the centre hole of the bracket should bolt to the chassis leg then you have one fixing hole each side of it as in the pic of darrens, sometimes you need a slimline fan conversion if theres not enough clearance

This is how it ended up in the end.

I purchased these fitting bars from XYZ fabrications I think it was, and had to play around with configurations of mounting and made it all fit in the end. Mine is an Airtec ic with an unknown alloy rad and fans.

From memory I think the spacer bar came with the pro alloy kit, when you buy the Rad and the intercooler together it comes with the kit. I can maybe have a look at the weekend and take some measurements.
As a side issue ive got a big fibre laser at work so I can also make some from steel.

Reviving this thread, from 10 years ago, LOL. Does anybody have any dimensions for the flat bar hole spacing used to mount the rad and RS500 intercooler to the Escort? Cheers. Gonna start installation soon, and want it to go as smoothly as it can.

Thanks for the tip, did not check that, you would have thought a set of fitting instructions would be included, save all this messingOriginally posted by 000 View PostThat is it, i think my bracket isn’t symetric, check yours.
As you said it is mega tight but i know we trial fitted first as rad/ic holes were not equaly spaced from center bracket hole. Mine is not touching front bar, rad and ic touches each other and i have the biggest versions of rad and ic from airtec.

I have fitted it just like you described, the centre hole picks up the existing rad mount on the chassis, and then there a 2 sets of slots either side of that hole the back slots mount the rad and the front slots mount the intercooler, but its mega tight, i think overtime the alloy would ware through on the chassis, i used a TV mount rubber(s) to mount the intercooler, will buy a proper kit from burton now thoughOriginally posted by 000 View PostThere is standard rad mount on the slam panel.
First you fit the bracket for rad/cooler combo, it is peace of metal with 3 holes.
Than you mount ic and rad to that bracket.
Everything is tight fit but very simple. The main thing is to position bracket right.
you need 2 pairs of mounting kits.
i’ll try to dig some pics later when i did research on fitting.
