    I understand not driving them in certain winter climates, but why not leave the battery connected in car and on trickle charge?

    Why isn't the engine being run up to temperature for a bit, heater and a/c run if you have it?

      Just idling an engine for a bit is as bad as “short tripping” a car i.e. never or rarely driving more than 10 miles. Heating and cooling causes condensation in the crank case. If the engine is not run long enough to boil the water off, it builds up until your oil looks like yogurt.

        Yeah, so run it long enough, get some heat soak through the engine bay to drive moisture out of everything.

        I think 6 months in hibernation will be a condensation issue as a minimum.
