Front diff nut

I changing all of the seals in my car but I have run up against a wee bit of trouble. The front diff has a 30 mm nut holding on the flange for where the seal actually is. Is just a Ford tool or can a thin walled socket be found to do the job. Is there another way of doing the nut?
