  • Auxiliary belt

Hi, i was thinking of replacing the aux belt on my BT but i see Matt Lewis is stipulating LATE on the belt on the add on eBay, are there different belts for the escos? On the history of the car it was replaced 10 years ago with a 6PK1413 x 1 but no mention of a manufacturer, any advice would be appreciated chaps, cheers, Mark.

Only on the Saph, I thought the only difference was a/c or no a/c

same belt on all escort cosworths
the early and late is for 4x4 in general early saph 4x4's had the twin belt system, when they went green top in 92 they went over to the ribbed belt with the power steering pump moved to the turbo side where it stayed on all escort cosworths
the AC belt is a seperate belt

I converted my BT to the earlier twin belt system on the alternator and single on the power steering without aircon. I always had a squeak which got annoying and all went quiet on the twin belt system.

Yes, I've got that squeak, always been there. Changed the belts, no better. One drop of water on the belt and all goes instantly quiet. V. annoying as you say!

The squeak comes from spring in the tensioner

You can spray some lubricant in there. Done that some times, it works for a time

I went to the motor spares center and was surprised they had a gates belt in stock, he said it fitted other cars, i never thought i would see the day that i am putting parts for a poxy citroen on my car The EFL 90 oil filter in black with ford printed on it, are these okay to use, in the past i have always had white ones.
