3dr feels more retro, more noise and you can feel it, it is lighter and more spartan.
Escort is more like a modern car.
Escort for daily, 3dr for the weekends and Saph for a wife.
I am lucky to have them all and when i think about them i always conclude that i would sell 3dr first but when i go to the garage and uncover it....
...no way is my final answer !!

theres no way id describe the es cos as being like a modern car in my opinion, its like a classic car [which it is] i sold my saph 4x4 cossie back in 95 to get my first escort and didnt miss that as it was like a barge, far too big a car for me

Maybe i expressed wrong, i thought it is more modern feel than 3dr.
When driving 3dr i feel it is old while Escort is above its time, the body looks like it is made of thicker sheet, interior, dash, gear stick and everything looks fantastic and in right place.
I don’t feel Like i am driving 25 years old car.
I feel more confidend and can drive it much faster than 3dr.

I totally appreciate the 3dr, I've just never wanted to own one. A moonstone one went past me the other way and it looked ace gleaming in the sun, made all the modern cars around look tame.

i Also have 1 of each and tbh i cant say who is best. driven them far to Little to make a comparison.. The Escos is going big bhp with all that comes with is (Fixit gearbox, quaife diffs, alu bushes, etc) and the 3dr is 400ish with Rs500 look.

535bhp in a 3 droor must have felt pretty wild compared to 347 in a ecos with transmisson losses.you should have swapped the engines before you sold the 3dr lol

I've had an escort and 3dr at the same time. As previously mentioned the 3dr feels much more noisy and rattly than the escort but the steering is much more connected in the 3dr.
for smiles per miles the 3dr every time for me. The escort really does feel like driving a modern car in comparason.
if you want grip and cornering ability get the escort but if you want a more involving drive go Sierra in my opinion.

as you say the sierra will always be more fun at sensible speeds ,where as the escos will have to be going a lot faster to get the same adrenaline going lol
