  • How do they get away with it!?

Car insurance! Been with Adrian flux since day one with my escort, around 15 years now. In that time it’s gone up and come down. I’ve never made a claim and on renewl have always paid the lot in one go. Great customer ay! Or so you’d think!! 3years ago I brought a van for a run about, first year with flux was £400,Which I thought was high as my cossie at the time was only £500,but I went with it! Cut the story a bit shorter...over the next 3 years I went up,and so did my car! So just out of interest I called round to get quotes for the van and car, flux at the min is £600 for the car,I got quoted £370! The van £470 quoted £250! At that I made my mind up next time round I’m changing and leaving flux! Then I came in for a bigger shock!! Just moved house, called to change address, car insurance runs out December, they wanted an extra £280 and an extra £170 for the van!!! So told them where to go and I want to cancel both policy’s with immediate effect and send me what I’m owed! They then said I’ll just check to see if we can get a better deal....within 10 mins the car had gone from £280 to £75 the van £170 to £45! Talk about trying it on! Absolute bunch of c**ts! How on earth do they get away with it. Dropping the prices that quick, that soon! They were basically telling me they were going to rip me off!

All insurance companies rely of people's laziness to not shop around. I make a point of shopping around every year.

I've had the same thing, I think the thing is you need to be prepared to walk away and not just be saying it, and then a lot of the time you'll get a better deal. It's a real con. Probably bigger commision if they get you insured with certain companies.

Talking of things like this, and this was literally in the last few days, my phone deal with 02 was costing me a fortune because I was on pay as you go and the text prices were horrendous, they rang me up and said and I quote 'Because you've been with us for a long time we can offer you a special sim only deal for £13 a month.' Now that sounded quite expensive to me so I said I'll think about it, I checked their deals and that's the standard deal for sim only for 02, so I basically told them to sod off and went for Virgin Mobile with everything I need for £7 a month. You get nothing for loyalty these days.
              Cheers

They're all the same. I have my internet with bt and they've kept bumping up the price over the last couple of years. Just gone with sky for the same price -£60 a month and got a 1tb box, unlimited fibre broadband, all the sports in hd. The guy on the phone said has no one been in touch to offer you a deal? Err no pal you've just put it up again so I'm off

                  not sounding good Chris.

Its all ok paying either inflated prices or finding a lower premium from someone else however if the unfortunate thing happens, its how they deal with you and your car and payout.

that where we need to hear the good things about insurance companies and not just the lower price.

I'm with ERS through boncaster dave, it's is/was supposed to be an rsoc endorsed company, agreed value blah blah blah. Five years, always renewed with one payment, all mods declared and it's been a disaster from the minute if the accident.
i rang the accident call centre and was told there'd be someone with me in 50 minutes to collect the car and take me home. We were just over the border in Scotland.
Four hours later and I'm still at the side of the road, numerous phone calls later and a guy turns up in a hi-ab truck. I said to him if he knew we were going to the north east of England with the car and he tells me the car is going to their storage compound and he'll drop me off at the train station.
i rang the call centre back and blasted them for having me standing at the side of the road for four hours after crawling out of a written off car. I ended up arranging the recovery myself.
the car was assessed and written off after four days, the report was submitted, the car was a total loss cat B and seven weeks later they still haven't paid out.

Shame to hear Chris you were waiting that long after such an accident.

we all pay good money for our insurance, some a lot more than others due to where they live...me for one! and i hope if anything ever happened it will all be sorted out without any hassle and waiting an unreasonable amount of time to sort the claim out.

mine is due again soon and after hearing about your insurance company Chris, thats one i wont be calling for a quote.

thankyou for letting us know and hopfully all will be sorted out and you can sort another car out.

                        Dave.
