  • Seats Dilema

I thought I would post this on here as I have a bit of a dilemma.
I obtained this leather interior as part of a spares package from a replica.
Anyway I have inspected the seats today and found they are genuine ESCOS Seats.
The dilema I have is after checking them is it appears they have perfect HEX Cloth under the leather and it is the cloth seats I want for my project (Mororsport Version)
So do I send the interior to the trimmers and have the leather removed or try and sell the seats as they are and try and get a perfect set of cloth seats.
I wouldn’t have thought they would fetch top money as they are because of the originality.
    what do you reckon ??

    Thanks in advance

    Pete

The red piping is not original. That will decrease the leather value.

They don't look to have the right kind of leather finish on them - look a bit like those vinyl covers you get in taxis , i'm not sure they're worth as much as a decent leather or hex cloth.

Have to wonder if the cloth underneath is present, what is the leather hiding - without stripping you'll not know. I think i'd be inclined to get one stripped to see what's underneath, they com apart easily enough.

No, that's definitely not the standard Escort Cossie leather finish. I'm with Simon, it just depends what it's hiding underneath, if it was a mint hex trim surely in a rep you wouldn't bother having them leather trimmed, although I could be wrong.....tricky one mate.

Think he is saying the seats are genuine not that it’s genuine leather

The leather is retrimed for sure as it is not perforated.
i have had a look where I can and it is grey hex and looks perfect.
i was wondering if they would be worth more with the leather on or removed.
I think I’m going to remove the leather and see what’s underneath !!!
The leather covers might be up for sale soon....
                Thanks for all the input.
                Cheers Pete.

I would defenetly remove that leather cover, just to see what is under.
However they don’t worth much with that vinyl.

I’m just glad I didn’t sell them as they are in EBay.
They were just chucked in a part of the package I bought and it’s only when I pulled the rear arm rest down I could just see the cloth !!
Im going to strip everything down and see what’s what
