Wonder if anyone can help...took the Escort out on the weekend and noticed a bit of squeaking. I've heard it before intermittently but it's fairly obvious and constant now...
Basically, it's a squeaking when slowing to a stop or going around corners slowly and also if I'm driving along in a straight line and move the steering wheel to the right a bit.
At first I thought it might have been the suspension or wheel-bearing (?) but given it does it when driving along straight and edging the steering right I'm thinking power steering ? It makes like a 'circular rubbing/squeaking' noise which is like a belt - that kind of noise? Suspect something to do with Power Steering pump/belt/pulleys? As soon as I bring the wheel straight again when driving it stops.
Strange when coming to a stop and not actively steering left or right it also happens but not as much.
Any help appreciated...
