  • Standard 16" Escort Cosworth Centre Cap

    HI all

Does anyone know or has anyone ever had a reproduction of the standard escort cossie alloy center cap made for them?

They are no longer available from ford and were thinking about getting some made up to use and keep the originals in my garage. I've seen a set of 4 go for £550 (and they really don't show up that often)

I've spoken to a company https://www.plastiprint3d.com/ who was involved with making up some Astra GTE center caps from car S.O.S a while back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXG8atwNiYI

Would anyone else be interested in a set? Gary the owner of plastiprint3d has asked me to send some photos up to him and then a center cap so he can 3d scan the item and quote a price.

There is no minimum amount of sets if it's a set of 4 or a set of 100 he is happy either way.

I thought I would post this to see what interest if any there is.

I have purchased a set of these for spares recently but have not tried them on my rims yet. I will put them on and see what there like. They look spot on but let’s see how they fit.

I fitted one of these for the first time tonight.
It was extremely difficult to get it to fit on.
So I immediately worried about getting it off again.
              it looked good.
I tried my hardest to get it of without breaking it.
              Broke it.
Emailed the seller to tell him the metal ring is too tight and there is no way one of these could be removed without breaking.
I hope he will send me a new one.
              Gutted.
A lot of positive feedback for this chap but how many people have bought these for spares and not actually fitted them I wonder...

Probably the material is not flexible enough. Common problem with the printed items.

i see he also does wing grilles and washer jets,i bet the jets must be tricky to make, assuming they still have adjustable nozzles

I've just read all of the comments above. Is there anyone that sells good quality repo centre caps? Although the ones on eBay look good the fit and quality doesn't seem to match the original OE item.

Reason I ask is, like psygnosis I looked at getting these remade some months ago and even got drawings done but as others seemed to be making them it didn't look it was worthwhile carrying on with it.

Would love to hear some feedback on this.

These are definitely flexible. That flexible it pretty much bent right back without snapping as I tried to get my screwdriver in and depress the plastic clips to get it off without breaking. They are definitely thinner and of coarse not the same quality of plastic. It is the metal retaining ring that is the problem. Yes my wheels have been refurbished a long time ago but the standard caps with metal ring clip on and off fine. I would only fit these without the metal retaining ring if they appear to be hard to push on.

I emailed the maker and 24 hours later he has messaged me back saying he will replace one for me. Still waiting for it to arrive, he says he is making a new batch.

Apart from being thinner, are these as good as the OE part? What is the quality like where the Ford badge is?

I think it is good enough. I would like to see them painted next to a oe one but I will only paint these and fit them if I lost an original.
