  • Relays behind battery

Can any one please tell me what the 2 large relays are behind the battery.
Ive found each one is dtawing 0.15 amp 24 hours a day. Thats 0.3 amphrs x 24 is 7.7 ahrs per day. No wonder my battery goes flat after a week.
    Cheers,
    Frank

      Thanks Miggs.
Both of them are dragging the battery down slowly. If I don't keep a battery maintainer connected, the battery is flat after 4 or 5 days.

you may have a bit of moisture within the relays, obviously the fans only run when the stat demands (2 stages) and the heated front screen is energised from the switch on the dash, and i think both are off the engine run relay (in the main fusebox). These relays behind the battery can be prone to getting moisture in, I would remove them and then slide the covers off and visually check for signs of ingress, either dry them out or change them, just make sure you don't have any signs off arcing across the contacts, or maybe the contacts are welded shut.

Thanks Darren. Ironically I dont even need them. I have Marks MAD Emtron ecu system that runs the slimline rads ( I have a 100mm Rspec intercooler and ally rads). Ive pulled the original fan relays and the current has dropped from 0.36A to 0.12A
Ive tested the rads and they still work.
I also found what was causing the .12A current draw and that is the memory for the Radio & CD player.
No wonder I have a flat battery after 3 weeks.
Im going to pull the fuse to the Radio memory when leaving the car in storage. Current draw is then 0.016 A . Much much better.
0.016Ahr will flatten the battery in aprox 6 ota months.
