I did have a mad thought last night funny enough, but then saw the price of them which brought me back to sanity!! We’ve just got rid of 2 Audis due to the PCPs ending, so bought an A5 Quattro convertible to cruise about over the summer (kids choice!)… not much interest in cars these days!

I know what you mean about social media. My facebook got hacked 2018, from that got into my email account and full google account. Spent months starting from scratch.
I suppose we all move on in life in the end, this site was so busy back then....as you know 20 posts a day Frank .lol

I'm still alive and living a life of sorts, some things in life remain the same whilst others have changed forever. Still a red thing in the garage for now but more of a dust gathering machine than a driving one now ! Check in here randomly...... was just looking at the white modified ST with 13k miles on Ebay...... looks to have sold for around £60k. Good to know not everyone is skint lol

i am guilty as charged too. must admit i am a quiet one who don't talk much and i certainly don't have much knowledge (mechanically wise) to give advice to others. guess i am one of the few who use cossie as daily car around the globe LOL (back and forth from home to work). the cossie is with me for 19 yrs. now and i am trying my best to keep it alive. one of my mates who owned a cossie too but has moved back to uk (i am in hk) a few yrs back, i virtually don't know or do not have any contact with other cossie owner in my place. it's definitely a challenging job to maintain a cossie in good shape here LOL. discontinuity of parts is another challenge for sure.

I thought I was quiet with 200+ posts since 2008 in the RTOC but you’ve trumped me there! I think the other day there was someone on here with 1 post in god knows how many years. I too have always felt a bit reluctant to post up with my very limited mechanical knowledge and when I start taking my car apart it normally stays apart for a long time because I never have enough time, so it would make a bit of a rubbish thread to read.

Anyway to be positive I have loved reading many forums for a many years and I hate now to see what social media has done to them and I am not a fan of socials and I am not on them. They are great for business but I can’t help thinking the world would be a better place without social media.

Anyway, being positive about this topic yes, I think a section on the forum to be about members other cars they are working on would be a great start, so if things are quiet on the cossie front for you old members I’m sure a lot of you are working on other great projects or have worked on other great projects none cosworth. The other point which would be a good boost for the forum is if the club did at least one event a year where all escos owners get together for one big meet. At a track for track action to take place as well and solely for the forum members or even a drive out somewhere in the country or a meet at a suitable venue to get all escos owners together for a proper ‘do’ once a year at least. What are people’s thoughts?

I will knock it down a peg or two now as I have done way too many posts since 2017 for me!

Is there a chance that as investors buy our cars that there is little passion to join forums and talk about them ??

That is a factor I’m sure but as this thread and forum shows people are still about and I’ve been going to RSOC events for years as a non member and there is always plenty of escos still kicking about. I’d still say social media is the biggest culprit. This site isn’t no way as dead as the RSOC site but still a good few escos owners bringing there cars out for shows.

it would be good to get all escort cossie owners out together once a year. What a site and occasion.

It is a shame, as everyone has said. As I mentioned previously I’ll try and be active more. A regular meet sounds a great idea. Especially as my car passed it’s mot today. It’s first one in 10 years.

Could do with some meets up here in West Scotland.
We have eased back a bit with the B&B so have a bit more free time

Now then matey, been a long time. Hope you are well. Audi sounds right up your street you big homo

Me n Ben still own the site, bought if off Paul. Although I wouldn't say we run it as there's not much to run really, it sort of looks after itself

I'm on most days just never find much to post about, I pulled my engine out last August to fix an oil leak on the gearbox and it;s still in a bazillion pieces. Must try harder but I'm a bit like you in that I really dont have much interest in it all

I agree, but we have tried this before and we found that unless the location/date and occasion suits each individual 100% to the letter then people just aren't interested in making the effort.

Take the Silverstone Classic for example, we've been organising this for several years now, the only time anyone bothered to come was when they knew there was a parade lap, and even then half of the people didn't show support for the site by coming on stand, they wanted to go on whichever RSOC stand was good for them, it makes us think why should we bother?

I know what you mean, it’s wishful thinking. I was thinking more of a get together as just the club on its own. Not tagging onto another event. Escos only gathering at a small race circuit or sprint track somewhere? Mallory, Curborough somewhere central. People pay for a ticket and then they are more inclined to go and not back out.

Sorry if all has been done before and I know it’s someone ‘taking the reins’ to organise such a thing which isn’t easy in modern day life. Plus not cost affective with the amount of members we have, I don’t know. I thought I would just chew the fat also and put it out there. Someone can reality check me and shoot me down, no hard feelings!

Once my car is sorted I will be back out again!
Didn't expect to be off the road for so long.
Deffo fancy a road trip next year if we can organise it, even if it’s only a few of us!
