  • Voltage drop

I’ve just put a new battery in the car as it had gone bad and the charger wouldn’t charge it because it identified it as bad. The new battery when connected is 12.4v on the meter. When running the volt meter connected across the battery shows 11.8v. The SECS monitor shows 11.3v. Previously when running the SECS would show 13.4v on the old battery when it was good. Any ideas what is going on please? Should I be concerned?

Nevermind. It’s rectified itself it seems, as the clocks weren’t plugged in. Plugging them in has sorted the readings so they align. Although the buttons on the monitor aren’t working so not sure what that could be?

With the engine running with some revs on, you should see 13ish. Check out why the alternator is not pushing charge to the battery.

Check on altenator, if have more voltage there, and if the little wire have voltage. Your batterylamp in dash lights up when put on ignition?
