  • Abs light on

    Hi All

    It's been awhile!

Been having such a good run last couple of years!

Coming home from a show on the weekend and the ABS light has decided to come up and stay on. I've looked through some threads and have some ideas where to start but just thought I'd start one up so I can get some better ideas where to start first.

    CheeRs

    Garth.

Having loomed through threads, have you tried diagnosing yours based on the info in those threads?
    Cheers

I'm yet to get it up of the ground, (I'm back at work) I have an idea to check each wheel sensor with a multi meter to see if they have AC current then from there I'll be at a loss ? I have checked the obvious fuses! The 3amp fuse crumbled in my hand, replaced it with no change. I'll get back to it on the weekend and keep you posted.

its quite a simple system really when you break it down, you just need a wiring diagram and a multi-meter, really easy to check you are getting the right signals to the ECU. I had the light on all the time and found a couple of issues and resolved them in a few hours. If you get stuck give us a shout.

CheeRS mate thank you, we have an auto elec at work and he's said he's happy to have a look with me when we get the time. So between you and him hopefully we'll be able to nut it out pretty quick. It really plays on my mind when my (second) love is not well! I have to say that when she's in the room lol. Thanks again

            Hi Darren,

I haven't had much luck with fixing this ABS problem. I thought I had a wiring diagram for my car on the PC but turns it's not the right one?. So I've bought four new oem compatible wheel sensor and installed them with no change! (Lights still on in dash)... I have friend that has worked on Saab's and he is saying they are asimilar abs system but he is also struggling to find any information on it! Any help with this matter would be much appreciated.

                  Hi,
yes it does, it's always from cold had a higher brake fluid level until you turn the key on and the pump kicks in and brings the fluid level down to the full marker on the reservoir.

Ok the pump starts, does it cycle off and how long does it take to cycle off?
                    Cheers

                            Hi All

Well I think we've might have found the problem! Removed ABS module and noticed it had a electrical burnt smell so I opened it up and found that part of the circuit board has fried!

I've emailed BBA Reman with no response as yet? Was wondering if anyone knows of a second hand one or knows somewhere that I could possibly send it for repairs or replace?

                            Cheers Garth

Have you tried to xref the part number to other ford models. I bet it was a standard control module for the whole range of Fords early to mid 90's
