  • Oil Pressure gauge

My oil pressure gauge has developed the annoying habit of sticking at the cold pressure. Stays there, even when you turn the motor off. A few bangs on the top of the dash and it goes down, but of course, next time you start the engine, up it goes and sticks again. I've thought I might cure it with a tiny drop of clock oil on the rotating shaft, though reluctant to jump in and do it without asking if anyone thinks that might have unexpected consequences. Anyone had a similar problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

Have you tried check wires on the back of banana pod or at the sender...Check that first

Why, Garet? The gauge works, so I doubt there's any electrical fault. As soon as the engine starts, the gauge will go to the appropriate high cold reading, and gets stuck there. It doesn't drop as the oil warms, and stays stuck there when you turn the engine off. A few bangs on the dash and it drops to zero as it should. Seems to me to be definitely a sticky needle..... One notable thing though. Turn engine off, needle stays stuck. Then turn ignition on, but without starting the engine, and the gauge immediately goes to zero....
