i am in a dilema. and i know some will take the piss out of me but i dont care.
all my rs500's and escorts etc are out of boxes and in my cabinets(including my gold plated f50) but the last purchase i made was the brawn gp button car from his first win in australia. i havent removed it from the box to put in the cabinet yet even though there is a space waiting. i cant decide whether to leave it unopened or take it out and display it
its one of only 4002 models world wide and dunoo if i should take it out or not.what do you guys think?

Not that I know much about this subject Neil, but I would say it all depends on your future plans for it. If its for your own enjoyment then why not remove it and get the full benefit of the car in your cabinet. If you plan on selling it in the future then I would have thought it would be worth that little bit more in an unopened box

In that case you need to weigh up the differences in potential profit

I presume the other cars in the collection would fetch more in an unopened box, if so how much more and would you be happy to see it displayed in a box in your cabinet?

yeah, all models pull more if unopened. but i couldnt have that mamy sat in boxes hidden away as it seems silly. i like them on show myself and especially the f1 cars as they are very detailed.and tbh thats why i havent bought many other models and started on the f1 cars.i like them alot more and you get more for your money imo

ive got the same problem mate.. ive got all the UT escort cosworths.. all boxed. some have been opened b4 i purchased them and the straps are gone, so i dont mine putting these in my display cabinet, but 4 of mine are brand new, never been out the boxes.. they are the 2 vavoline ones, the monte carlo night stage, and the michelin one,

so im now on the look for these 4 model which are in excellent condition but have been out the boxes or there straps removed some time in there past, that way i can put them in the cabinet

it's up to you mate, I think i'd want it on display to admire, after all you bought it to enjoy? If you had bought to make a profit the maybe you'd have bought a couple of them to sell on in the future?

Get some pics up of your collection (cars i mean not knives )

I would personally display it out the box, open the box very carefully and remove the model leaving as much packaging in tact as possible.

IMO there is no point having a model displayed in a box, you have to see it to enjoy it.
