  • HD t.v, who's got it?

Just ordered the hd package from sky, with 8 meg broadband as my basic BT package price was beyond a joke!
Anyone here got HD, if so is it much better picture wise than a normal set up?. had to go HD as all the other sky box's are white, and would not match my tv set up

nope refuse to pay the extra for it, since we already have the full sky package, our phone with sky and the 16meg broadband. I think 70 odd quid a month to them is more than enough

Yes I have had it for quite a while, there are not very many HD channels and some of the so called HD channels are not showing true HD programmes but when you do watch HD the images are amazing, nature channels seem to be the best and some are very, very cool.
Best in my opinion is the Discovery Shorts on Discovery HD (5 minute snippets of HD recorded nature stuff, it's amazing.
I look at it as a very big capacity SKY + box with the added benefit that once HD takes off you will already have the required box

make sure you get the sky man to plumb it up correctly, my old man paid £2000 for a TV, got sky HD etc etc and found no real difference in it, the dick didnt use the HDMI connection which basicly ment it didnt work! He had it for 6 months and canceled.

My HD box came with a HDMI cable. I had HD for a year then cancelled it as I didn't think it was worth the tenner a month IMO should be a free for how little channels/programs there are. But! having the HDMI/Componant outputs the HD box has, make the picture so much better then crappy scart anyway so its worth it just for those connections.

I think to have HD you need you need the two cable set up like the Sky plus box

I have had it for a year now and the amount of HD channels has increased but I only have sport package with phone and broadband plus multi room so aint got access to HD films etc , the quality between sky sports and sky Hd sports is vast , but to be honest you need a decent TV to really appreciate the quality of the HD signal ....... 40 quid is a good price, have you checked when the switch over is happening in your area as you could a hd box for the freeview channels

just thinking about it, the new av amp I'm getting has an upscaler and hdmi output so depends on how you wire up the system HD might not be necessary, as all my equipment will be plugged into the amp and then one hdmi cable going from that to the tv

anyone know if the Sky HD box outputs in 1080p?
