I have no idea what the setting or anything does as Im a spaz when it comes to these things.

That shouldn't matter should it as my Plasma runs on a normal aerial and the picture is still fucking stunning! Just had it re-wired last week actually as there was water getting in it and it's even better now!

how's the freeview connected to the tv?

have you tried just using a coax lead from main aerial socket to the tv to check the picture

I presume the tv has a built in tuner then

                whats the non freeview like?

you could try eliminating the wall plate

The normal tv is a bit worse than digi and its not mounted on the wall, its on a stand.

Its not a bad picture, just not crisp like its is playing dvd's or the xbox.

Because of the bad quality of 'normal' TV, your HD set is picking up the crap bits of the signal and exaggerating them. HD TV's always make normal telly look a bit grainy. If you are on an HD channel it should be fine!

Not sure how it works with freeview, but have you connected the box to your tv with a HDMI cable? you will notice so much more with this, scart is pants now and is half the reason for poor pictures.

Didn't the Bravia come with Freesat? If so BBC1 HD will be on there, If you have sky try BBC1 HD on there.

As Boony says, an HDMI cable is a must!

tv has built in free view. tv is connected stright to the wall with a brand new antenna cable (coaxial for 100hz tv it says).
