Pete said to use gear oil in the transfer casing as well. He can't understand why you need a thin oil that simply flings off a chain
Yep, said the same to me so I’ve got that Millers gear in the transfer too......again, tens of thousands of miles......no bother

This surprises me. I would have thought it would affect the viscous coupling.

The viscous is a sealed unit.

Got it. That had been my original thought, but while researching the Escort version, it was looking more like an automatic transmission clutch pack. I guess my plan of a DIY upgrade is out the window.

went sc 2nd and 3rd, it sounds great but couldn’t be doing with the noise in all gears for a road car

Get some ear plugs or phones for the motorway and if the phone rings, chuck it into 4th gear lol

Ill get used to it, my only worry is it's jumped out 2nd gear twice since it being in. I've covered about 30 miles so far, I just hope it's all bedding in with new Helix clutch fitted as well

Ive just got a fix it in mine. I'm going to use what I used back in the 90's with a DPE box . Redline lightweight shockproof gear oil in both the box and transfer box.. Silverstone used to use it with their Rally/Race School.
                            • Film thickness greater than an SAE 75W140, yet low fluid friction like 80W gear oil or 30W motor oil
                            • Excellent low-temp flow, improved cold shifting
