Mark, did he have the full cover? think it's about £1200 a year and it pretty much covers everything?, i know a few people that have claimed head gaskets/clutches etc on CSL's and they have not had any issues getting it payed for.
If i had another i would have the warranty, to many faults that can crop up and are hard to detect such as head gasket issues, vanos sproket bolts, vanos units, cracked floors etc

Dont bother with the BMW warrenty as they have just refused and claim on my Friends CSL on the gearbox and it has only done 17k.

As they hold their money............. the money isn't really an issue as long as you have it in the first place

I think the reason you couldn't see the strength of the car is maybe that you are a 4x4 Turbo man through and through and you surely can't tell me the noise didn't turn you on

Wouldnt be so sure about that unless you pay for the full bmw warranty I think i was unlucky but there are a few major faults appearing now in the E46's.
I would love a sapphire black CSL but not sure if i could do it after all the problems with my M3
