  • Are E-BAY losing business?

I was wondering if people think E-BAY are losing business, particularly sellers, because I keep getting free listing offers every couple of weeks now. The problem is, it's not the listing fees that are extortionate, it's the end fees and the fact that you have to give a Paypal option now and so you're charged fees again. Plus the fact that no-one wants to pay sensible money for anything any more. And half the time if I do sell stuff I lose out on the packing and postage too.

I used to do loads of E-BAY selling, but now I don't do much, I only use it most of the time to buy things.

    What does everyone think?
    Cheers
    Trev.

I sell on ebay and whilst it is dear you will not find a better audience and achieve better sell prices anywhere else. Although that does depend on what your selling.
If you word your auctions right and cover all the bases you can really can get the messers down to a minimum.

I dont think thats a problem specific to ebay.

Personally i think its a reflection of the decline of society where most people are turning into/born as complete mongs.

In the good old days when things were dealt with over the phone it was easy to deal with mongs - ie you hang up on them and save your time for decent customers.

That meant if you were a mong, you either had to buck up quick and learn to deal with people, or accept that no one wants anything to do with you and wont answer your questions or sell you things.

these days with the internet, people dont have to learn how to behave. They can just remain as mongs with little consequence.

The other problem with ebay is ebay/paypal just dont give a shit anymore. Theyve gone for total capitalist greed model of working. In the early days they needed to make the effort to get business and keep people happy. Nowadays they dont. the flow of trade is such that it just doesnt matter if their customer service is shit as where else can people go to get such a wide audience? no where. The so called rivals are shit and small.

It's just to encourage you to use it again. I only use it for buying and I get these regularly when I haven't used it for a while.

A useful tool but a lot of hassle to sell IMHO, generally I will use it to advertise & sell for a fixed price off the site, then just cancel the listing. Payment by cash or direct bank transfer only as PayPal is a scammers dream.
