  • I can't work it out !!

    Hi folks,

I have had my focus up for sale for a few weeks now and although ive had a bit of interest people are not exactly knocking my door down . I was trying to work out the possible reasons ? Thier have been several cars for sale recently all nice modifyed examples with around 40,50,60k on them and people have wanted 10 to 12k for them . I know of a second unmolested/standard focus who lives near by with slightly less milage (5k) and its been valued at £14250 which makes me think mine is a bit cheap. At first i thought money is tight for folks but these modifyed car are selling or , do you think these car are still at the stage where people want big bhp examples ? I would apprreiciate your thoughts please

    Cheers

I dunno mate, I know if I had the cash I would have knocked the door down and happily taken the keys to that off you,

You should maybe just sit on the car and realise what you actually have, it's basically still a brand new car

      Thank you

The thought of keeping has indeed crossed my mind, Ive also thought about doing a few more miles in it in an effort to get on with a bit more but I don't to wreck the value of it by doing so . I forgot to mention its only advertiesd on here and the main RSOC, and between the two sites its been viewed 1500 times

I think you should only use it very few times maybe 1000 miles max a year to try and keep it very low miles,

Money is tight for a lot of people and it's the wrong time of year. I doubt much of anything is selling now we're heading towards Christmas. And to be honest I think a lot less people are spending out large amounts of money on cars and are concentrating on paying their credit off.
          Cheers

I have never believed in the whole "selling around xmas is a bad time" with the types of cars we are selling our audience is quite small and people buy these types of cars when they want them... Maybe im wrong but if i had cash on the hip and was looking for a cosworth or frs etc the time of year wouldnt bother me at all... Theres a buyer out there for everything just depends in how big of a rush you are to sell and if you start reducing the price anyone who is half interested will sit and wait to see how much you will drop too before he rings....

I collected my escort 3 days before Christmas so i agree people will buy these types of cars any time of the year, but no one has any money. I love your car and if i had the money i would be knocking on your door, i showed a friend some pics and he said it was very nice but not far off mk2 money and i have looked and you can get 50000 mile cars for 18k so maybe the gap isn't big enough and are these cars still desired by people wanting big bhp which good ones with 40/50000 miles that have had lots of money spent on them are selling for 10k do people think they are getting more for there money. i personally would rather have yours though, its a very nice car and I'm sure it will sell

I agree with all on these pionts , what I can't get my head around is that for example, theres a couple of cars for sale at the moment and both wanting 12k for them. One in particular has had so many mods to the engine. suspension, brakes lighting etc it leads me to think that theres not a nut/bolt or fastner thats not been untouched. Both cars however do look good and have proberbly been done to a high standard. I just keep thinking for a littel extra you could have one thats not been interfeared with. Or maybe theres the problem, theres not a big enough gap between the modded ones and mine. The Mk2s are indeed comming down in price but im starting to think mine is to cheap if you see what I mean. Perhaps I should give a bit longer and put the price up after christmas.

Just hold out buddy there's always the perfect buyer for every car!

I remember trying to sell one of my Golf R32s a few years back, had it advertised for 11k which was about 2k more than any other at that time, but it was one of only 44 Red ones and low miles, took 3 months of absolute rediculous offers but I knew it was worth what I wanted, then out of the blue a guy phoned and paid full price without even seeing it

Moral of the story is hold out for what your asking, it might take a while but I'd rather hold on to it for an extra while and get what you want rather than selling it quick and not really be happy

Your right, I need to take a step back, I suppose it will give me longer to save for a nicer Escos

Btw Ive never even seen a red R32

I Know i have looked at it, I can remember seeing a a virtully new Focus at Donnington spares day 2003. It was on display beside an Imperial Escos. I thought at the time despite both cars being the same colour how much much more presence the Escos had. I can also remember saying to my mate how I thought it blew away the Focus . People have got the money mate. Im fortunate enough not to need the space or anything so like me, if you can you'll have to sit on it for a bit. good luck with it anyway
