im hoping someone on here has had the same problem and can help with this as im running out of ideas what happens is on the overrun i get a rumbling type of noise, mainly noticeable in 3rd and 4th but only when the revs drop to around 3000rpm,the slightest bit of throttle and it stops again,it sounds exactly like when the down pipe is catching the bodyshell except it isnt,i run a standard exhaust so theres loads of room,at first i thought it was the rear diff so ive tried another and no difference, the weird thing is when its making the noise if you put the clutch in it stops it,let it out and it continues, applying the brakes makes no difference but if you put the h/brake on fully it stops it,let the h/brake off again and it starts again
all the mounts are fine/new,ive swapped exhausts, ive removed the h/brake cable completely, ive renewed the prop bearing and rubber insulator, the uj feel fine and tight,i know kev on here had the same thing and he also renewed the transfer chain and front diff and made no difference either, its got a new clutch/release bearing, the g/box seems spot on [its only done 25k] it drives spot on with no noises or anything at all apart from this one,any ideas?
rear cv joints are next on my list if i cant think of anything else

Was talking about this today with my mot tester(has a bt escos also) mine has had the same noise for a year now and its time to sort it , he pointed straight to the transfer chain, was going to remove my box and send it away to get sorted but if youve done yours i'm back to square one again would welcome some advice also.

Are you using O/E mounts throughout?, engine, gearbox, rear beam, trailing arms, exhaust etc?.
its suprising what noise/vibration the standard stuff soaks up.

im in the process of fitting standard engine mounts, all the rest are standard and new apart from rear trailing arm ones as at the time nobody remade them so had to use polys

I had a similar problem on my saph the prop clicked as you moved it in one direction other way was fine I took it to propshaft services by me and the guy there told me it was fine but I was not convinced so I had him change the uj anyway and balance it which cured the problem.
But that was a vibration probmem not this weird rumbling.

thats what i am saying nick .. the uj should move smoothly in all directions . it SHOULD NOT click into place . inside there are needle roller bearings , and they have a habit of wearing or breaking up

it doesnt click mark [as in make a noise] ,i meant you can feel a sort of notch when you swivel it into the straight position, theres no play whatsoever
