  • RE: Late Escort Cosworth labelled "cosy' ECU wanted

Hi to all and "happy new year to you all here I joined up here after some time since owning my car,

I wanted to ask if anyone here has the Cosy ECU for sale?

As mines packed up I think the car has an automatic revving up problem when slowing down approaching traffic lights have replaced all the usual common parts changed the inlet manifold gaskets, new TPS sensor, new Idle control valve new speed sensor tested wiring to the ECU

remember the ecu will be coded to your pats system

      Hi The Radman

Yes thought it might be but is there a way around it by pass the pats?

I tried my friends ECU in which was a "ANTI' type starter would crank but didn't start up noticed the Ford alarm LED flashing rapidly I don't think these ECU's are interchangeable if mines a "cosy' type originaly.
      Cheers

Try Paul Linfoot (RS500 Registrar) - I'm sure he'll have what you need

          Thanks Darren

I'll ask him see what he says, this problem is well annoying as at times when you thrash it and then slow down it revs to 4k revs at stay there till 3secs but if you disconnect the speedo drive electronic plug it drives fine.

          Cheers

if your stuck, i have a COSY ECU here. It was removed from my ST Escos and has been in a drawer ever since. The PATS coil which attached to the steering column is also there.

I will be in Bromsgrove next week if that helps.

ideally you will also need the chip out the ign key to get it all to work unless you know someone who can reprogramme yours to suit the new ecu

I`'ve alsoone over, but I guess its a ANTI, but at my car the Pats dosn't effect anything with the ECU. But I've a late '95 model.

I do have the original RED Key somewhere, I would need to find it though.

When the Anti and Cossy have 100% the same wiring inkl. pats, you don't need the red Key. I've change my ECU against a aftermarked. And car runs with pats.

                            Hi mondeofreak

But I think the ECU's are different as Mark Barber also said its to do with the EDIS module matched also accordingly to each ECU,

If you know Ford fuse boxes also have different numbers & letters even if the cars are the both same year.
