i want to fit one of these soon as my surging is pissing me off!! whats my easiest and cheapest option with it still looking standard still? anyone have pics of theres?
your not going to fully eliminate the fuel surge when it gets low unless you fit an external swirl pot and secondry fuel pump.
Mike R can supply you everything you will need to do this, and it will all fit neat and snug under the car and look as factory as possible, it would all depend on the power your aiming to run as to wether or not a single 044 or 2 x 2wd pumps will be required.
as for the 023 fitting kit that Mike can suply is a mild helper, it just enables the in tank pump to fit slightly lower into the tank so its got more of a chance of being within a decent fuel depth.
you will do alot worse than popping a PM over to him asking for full prices and time scales on being able to get hold of all the goodies, other than that the fitting will be pretty straight forward
i'm running 450bhp max which my 023 has acieved on its own but i will be driving the car at 380bhp 99% of the time untill i win the lottery and can buy a straight cut gearbox!!
i really hate the idea of all this fuel system stuff 3 pumps and a swirl pot sound messy!!lol
i own guzzlers old escort and although the engine is highly tuned its still looks original with all the standard covers etc and thats what sold me the car, i so i really want to a nice simple cure to the problem with out loads of mods.
i think my pump already sits really low in the tank it did have a big extention piece on the top of the pump, the surging happens just under halfway..

has anyone got a set up i could copy?
The fuel system I use on all my 500hp Escorts is a walbro in tank firing straight in to the back of a 044, works very well only starts to surge under 1/4 of a tank and is good for 650hp.
Mark,
I don't think that would be a good idea if the car is ever to be used on track, as fuel surge can destroy an engine in this environment, so you might as well do it right and do it once, which does involve the extra cost of a swirl pot.

Dom, i already covered what is the best thing to do, and is used by many which can be copied.
and its now even easier for you as the guy to get all the goods from has replied to your thread and is aware of what you need.
1 x 023 which you already have, feeding to a swirl pot, which in turn feeds an 044 pump or 2x 2wd pumps to the fuel rail which would be ok for your 450bhp.
all of this, as i already have stated fits nice and neatly under the car, easy to fit and plumb in and will look almost factory!!
I wish I knew my fuel pump set up! (Damn secret squirrel Alan! ) I'm not sure what feeds the 044, I think it might be another 044? What would I need to fit a surge tank/swirl pot to that?

I would like to think Alan would have sorted this like the above, as Alan knows his onions and wouldn't let your car out of his workshop under-fuelling. Just give him a bell and ask him what you have and he will tell you .

Its not under fuelling but he did say it would need a surge tank before excessive track day usage (which I promised I wouldn't be doing until the gearbox was sorted!). He did mention it before it went out and I thought he was going to do it but I'm not sure if he did or not. I'll have to jack it up and have a look when I give it a good bufty next weekend!
I'll be making sure its all pukka before the box and diffs are done and its let loose on the track anyway!

thanks for all your replys, mike my car has a aero quip fuel line from the pump to the fuel filter, after the filter it goes back to standard lines, also my fuel return is standard as well.
can you please quote me for the swirl pot, fuel pump bracket and all connecting fuel lines to join it all up to my current fuel system.
