  • Prop shaft donut issues

Bought and fitted a new prop shaft donut from Burton just for the sake of having new parts in there and it's ripped itself to shreds after a few first and second gear pulls..

Gearbox mount seems ok.. and the centre bearing is brand new..

Any ideas why it's done this? I took extra care when fitting it to make sure it sat straight.. can it be as simple as a really shit donut?
Not running mega power either. .

Very much doubt it's a problem with the prop, if
this was the case, your old one would have looked
the same when removed. My guess would be it's
been fitted wrong and the load has gone through
the thin part of the doughnut, can sing it to flex too
              much and split.

How can it be fitted wrong? This only fit in one place and even has "drive shaft side" written on it?

The splines on the prop are not seized either. .

This is how mine is fitted. Is this how yours was fitted?

I bought a original ford one.

Probably.. I'll put the old one in and give the car a good thrashing to see if it holds up..
