  • Sierra prop to cosworth gearbox

On the mondeo the front bit of the rear prop is different but it has the same end as the early sierra had with the thick donut that bolts onto the rear of the gearbox, now I need to keep this bit and the box I have has the escort flange on I need to change that bit on the box. Does anyone know what bits I need?

    Hope this makes sense lol
    Thanks Mark.

you not making too much sense mark

how long is the output shaft on the transfer box long or short (im guessing long)
you have the early 4x4 thick doughnut with the bearing in yes? a(s opposed to the esc cos one which has a big hole in)
you need the late 4x4 doughnut, the late 4x4 front prop (esc cos) with the hole in it and the esc cos front ppart of the prop
or you can change the tailshaft of the box easy enough and fit the early shaft and doughnut with the bearing on which you have and the early 4x4 prop
    hope that makes sense lol

    early 4x4

    early 4x4 tailshaft (short)

    late 4x4 (long)

ok, you need to get either the early 4x4 output shaft fitted to the box, (a very easy job to fit with the box out) and use the early 4x4 doughnut (with the bearing in the middle)

        OR
get a late 4x4 front prop section (with bearing attached) (esc cos) and matching late spec doughnut (without the bearing in it)

        hope that makes sense

you could just take the 3 bolts out and then shorten the output shaft witha cutting disc, that would then allow you to fit the early doughnut and that prop

I've seen it done before because early doughnut has bearing type bit in it anyway so does not need the centre to interlock like the eacort Cosworth doughnut does
