I think one reason is that the original ford alloy wheels do not have metal inserts, they have a floating nut ie a very wide washer type thing attached. If this floating washer was not there the nuts would grind into the alloy wheel away when screwed into place.
Where as after market rally type wheels such as Compomotive (not sure about Engels) have a steel insert placed inside the alloy wheel when made. So the proper nut (smaller) for compomotives (no floating washer) screws against the steel insert, it protects the alloy rim. This is because a rally wheel on a rally car would be on and off much more than the standard ford wheel.
Hence 'I think' is maybe why the nuts don't look or fit totally proper.
All in all no damage, but you'd be better off with the correct nuts imo.
