  • Head work advice needed

    Evening all,

I'm about to take the head off the Cossie as I've been advised the head gasket is on its way out with a hydrocarbon test.

The head in question is a small turbo head and the only thing to my knowledge that's uprated is a AB07 inlet cam that I had installed at SCS.

Now then, while the heads off and will need a skim, is it worth having it ported, polished or any other mods done to it?

Bearing in mind I'm not chasing numbers as the car is a handful as it is. I'm just wondering if having some light head work will make the engine run a bit more efficiently?

Love to hear advise on this

    Cheers Billy

Ported correctly will be a benefit but it will need a remap, Are you after more power.

I use nms, in my exp and what I've listened to and read, engine will consume the air quicker, and just as important is it to exit. Aswell, so both need opening up so I'd say yes to make the best of the cam you have, but weather it's worth it for money/power/response compromise I'd say call a specialist,my car when I was running motor in on t34 had similar cams to yours was mental with the head work but did seem to run turbo out of boost early at 6500 weather that was head work or not I

So what does portrd correctly mean Mark?

Are we talking the size of the ports or the way they are ported?

Can you remember what head work you had done exactly?

Port sizes/flow for a given engine spec is important.

                My spec sheet says
25.5mm ports 3angle valve seats etc,
But the engine is Karl's regular 500bhp version In my 3dr so as said speak to a tuner/builder for exact info I honestly couldn't tell you what suits your motor
I only ran the t34 to run in for couple of thousand miles over a year ready for bigger turbo when I had ££££

Fair enough mate, just wondering if it's worth doing while the heads off. I'll speak to Harvey and see what he says then.

                  Thanks for the help

I must say Marks advice on here is priceless and it's not like a tuner to dish out free advice like he does

Chances are the valve guides will need changing, inlets may be ok but expect to at least have to change the exhaust guides and you mave have some valves with wear to match the guides.
Is there any corroision damage ?
i you need a head porting send me a pm as i can sort a deal with Roper Developments.
