It depends on the mileage the car covers, the colour of the car, how hard/soft the paint is etc as to what I prefer.Originally posted by TREVCOS View PostWhat polishes and waxes do you guys use on your cars? There's so many, just wondered what people preferred?
I use (and sell) lot of different waxes and wax alternatives. All of them are very good, but all have different properties. Again it depends how much time you like to take to clean the car and how often.

Such a massive range out there, I'd be contacting a couple of owners of red
on here to see what they use. that REDmk5rs (I think his user is) has a
that always looks really clean and shiney.
Be warned, your resto has taken ages - wait until you get into the back hole that is detailing

I personally don't like to spend more than half a day so its a polish and good sealant for me, with dressings for plastics, glass and rubber.

Hey Mike, might be handy if you could give an overview of the gtechniq range in here:

I'm sure members would find that useful

I used to use a lot of Meguiars products which helped me into being their page ad in FF & PF but I'm now poorboys and clearkote, Polish, glaze, sealant and wax.
The products I use are a specific to red Trev and help me get an almost wet look finish, granted the whole car needs doing 4 times but I stand by the fact that the end result is all in the prep.
My first stage is clearkote vanilla moose wax applied with a sponge applicator then removed with a brand new microfibres. Stage 2 is red moose glaze again from clearkote again applied with a foam pad and new microfibres, stage 3 is poorboys EX-P sealant left for half an hour or so, but again applied with a new cloth pad and removed with new microfibres, and finally a coat of clearkote carnauba wax applied with new cloth pad and removed with new microfibre.
Once done you can do the cloth test, throw a new microfibre onto the bonnet or the roof and it should go flying off at speed!
There are loads of other products I use for other parts of the car but I do the above 4 staging 3 times a season.

You have to reminder it's not just what you use, it's about hard work to, you can have the best products in the world, but if you want it done in 10mins then it won't matter what you got.
Hard work ,time and good products and a nice place to do it helps to.
This was a two day clean, I'm NO detailer but I try very hard.Attached Filessigpic
Of course I love you more darling

Blimey Mark, I had to put my sunglasses on to look at that pic.
Although my car is still in quite a few bits I've been starting to clay mine, which I have to say is doing wonders, but just interested what other people use, some great ideas for me to try.
ps What shocks is your car on Mark, it looks flippin' low?Cheers
Trev.
