  • Bonnet pull

Has anyone else had a stiff one

I have now broken 2 of the orange plastic pulls even though i have replaced the catch and cable (with new ford items) so any ideas would be appreciated. Oh and the catch is located central to the bonnet and it is actually quite stiff to pull even if you close the latch without the bonnet!

Is the spacer plate fitted behind the catch Mike?

It's a 1mm approx piece of steel the same shape as the catch outline. I've seen a few of these missing and it causes the catch to bend ever so slightly, this could be the issue.

Hi Dave, Ah no spacer plate on mine, didn't know there was such a thing. Do you know where I can get one from or do I just make one?

Yes tell us more Dave, my catch is stiff and I've broke a few levers. When I put the new catch on there wasn't any spacer and I'm certain it was the original catch. A pic would be good

Also snapped mine, never had a plate fitted either, although it is one of the early ones.

I'm in the same boat. Have to be really careful not to break the lever every time I open the bonnet.

It would seem this is a bigger problem than I thought, I thought I was alone
