  • Breaking cossie? How much for a good shell? Breakdown on price

Im considering breaking my Cosworth simply as I can do it fairly easily with my logistics so shelve everything and box with numbers as I do but would like a buyer for my shell ideally first before proceeding.

It is a Hong Kong import with 24k, I've spent so much on the car I was gauging the idea on price for the rolling shell that's been painted and not had a scratch on it. Car has covered under 100 miles. What price would it be worth as parts and can someone give me a rough cost on what it's worth.

    Thanks!

Seems a shame to break that to be honest. Modded cars tend to break more easily, where yours is more standard I think?

TBH I've seen your ebay advert, I think i'd be taking offers for a bit less to save the hassle of breaking it. You WILL be left with loads of bits that you can't shift.

Would be but not a problem for me, won't need to get my hands dirty and I'll just get one of my staff to package them as they are taken off and label them so basically have a Cosworth on the shelf.

I would consider offers and have had some cheeky offers but gets to the point where your sick of seeing the car that you want it boxed and shelved

Call it a donor car for all the forum

Thanks for the interest but I haven't decided hence the post for the asking the price for the shell first. I don't i'd have much trouble selling the main usual parts so it's the shell i'm most interested and wouldn't like for the post to be changed to a for sale post.

With regard to current values I'll stick my neck out and say a freshly painted good rot free shell with I/D glass, bonnet/boot/doors would be closer to 10k

Still a lot less then I was thinking but thanks for the upwards spiral for now

                      I did see this post:

                      http://escortrscosworth.com/forum/sh...=rolling+shell

So was hoping a fair bit more still. I don't like to list things on the high end of the market but what it's worth based on the market and if it was only worth 10k I'd rather just keep the car now and store in my warehouse complete.

It's not a judgement but could you explain why it would put you off and for it to deduct 40% off the value? Hong Kong has a warmer climate and with the car being sat for so long the shell actually was surprisingly good if it was like that in the UK weather i'm sure I'd have a bag of rust sitting in front of me now.

I've dealt with import cars and the average import maybe from Japan I'd agree are usually cheaper if it was perhaps a Subaru but there rarer cars usually still fetch good money if not more when the condition has been good when listed for sale.

I guess it's each to their own I suppose as I'd much prefer a import that has recorded history of what has been spent. On the higher end of the market of cars I've not really experienced much of a price difference in collectors import cars.

When I owned Subaru's I picked a UK Spec car at the time because of insurance, say the insurance was nearly twice on a import model but doesn't seem the case with these but then again could be my age is a factor....

Has anyone in the current market actively been searching for a shell and looked confirm the prices as they are some way apart on this forum as a whole?? Bit confused if i'm totally honest.

i gave 14750 for a rolling car minus engine and wheels and a few bits look atmy resto thread. the hong kong part wouldnt put me off but would put a fair few of imo. you know what people are like who buy these cars i mean it hasnt sold complete has it sadly and its a fair car for the money ;-)

It's only just been listed for about a week in it's current condition.

I have glimpsed through but how could you valuate it at 6k with the condition of the bodywork? Sorry but simply don't understand from it you paid near 15k for one that needed bodywork doing also?

I'm not here to cause arguments but just can't get my head around that or can't understand the logic? I appreciate the share of the price though thanks!
