  • Oil feed to turbo set up 2wd or 4x4?

    Hello chaps

Keep reading a lot of people recommending the preferred method for a turbo oil feed is to blank off the 4x4 head and run the feed like a 2wd from the back of the block?

What do you chaps think here?

    Cheers si

2wd. the 4x4 is good too, but the channel can clog up, its no problem normaly. the 2wd setup is lower the risk for clog up.

They only clog up through poor maintenance though?

BW have a tech doc on their site about installation. It talks about a restrictor factory installed in the turbo oil inlet port. So they don't need a high pressure feed like the old journal bearing turbos of 2wd era.

              Which efr you going with?
              Cheers

The 2wd oil feed helps to increase the oil pressure in the head especially on the exhaust side. We use to do this mod to prevent the lifters rattling after a track session or real hard use.

Not sure what you think about, but it have nothing to do with restrictor, only that IT was a " known" problem that they can clog, so No oil too turbo. Many resons IT can clog up, one of my engines did IT in late 90, IT was used hard, but serviced well, but stated to eat turbos, engines was changed, and when rebuild IT was the oilchannel that was blocked.

7064 it's a new build so not worried just keep reading people suggesting to take an oil feed from the rear of the block and not the head.

You get IT New from burton i would belive. Its only a extra takeoff where oilsensor is, and a longer oilfeed hose. But only get 1piece similar ti oe, i found out the expensive way...

Certainly not thinking about the gallery blocking up altogether.

What was the reason for yours blocking up?

                            What was in the gallery?

                            @James, thanks for the tip.

@Mark Shead, are you saying makes no difference to the lifters or turbo or both?
                            Cheers

Not sure what cloged IT, but already back then IT was a known problem, so was recomended to changed to 2wd setup. The engines was not mine back then.
